2022 Preliminary Top Jurisdictions for Fatalities

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)' preliminary numbers for Calendar Year 2022 are up. The information is outlined below.

The preliminary total number of fatalities for 2022 is 998. This is an increase from 2021 where the total number of fatalities recorded was 968.

REMINDER: Applications for FY 23-24 DMV Highway Safety Grants are currently being solicited. Grants allow Virginia-based law enforcement agencies, nonprofit organizations, state and local government agencies and colleges and universities to implement innovative programs and campaigns aimed at preventing and reducing traffic fatalities, injuries and crashes in Virginia.

Interested applicants may apply between February 1 – 28, 2023, and are required to complete a grant application training course.
