Law Enforcement Challenge

2008 Virginia Challenge Winners Announced!
Celebrating the twentieth year of the Virginia Law Enforcement Challenge, the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (VACP) is pleased to present the 2008 Challenge Award Winners. The Law Enforcement Challenge is a program that promotes professionalism in traffic safety enforcement and encourages agencies to share best practices and programs with each other. The Association is proud to be an integral part of Virginia’s traffic safety initiatives through its partnership role in the Virginia Smart, Safe and Sober Program.

As the coordinating Challenge agency, the VACP has worked very hard to ensure that law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth have all of the tools available to them to make our roadways safer and we congratulate all of the Virginia winners. The VACP is proud of your accomplishments and efforts to save lives.

Awards were presented at the Law Enforcement Challenge Luncheon on Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference in Newport News. In addition to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards listed below, special awards for efforts in the areas of occupant protection enforcement, impaired driving enforcement, speed enforcement, and many more were presented at the Awards Luncheon.

IACP National Law Enforcement Challenge Award winners have also been announced! Once again, Virginia agencies have done extremely well with 16 of 51 entering agencies winning nationally. Only Illinois has more national winners with 19. The National Law Enforcement Challenge Awards will be presented this October during the IACP Annual Conference in Denver, CO. IACP will notify winners about attending the conference and the Highway Safety Awards Breakfast.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
