Saved by the Belt & Bag Award Program

The Saved by the Belt & Bag Program is open to any law enforcement agency. Nominations for individuals who were involved in traffic crashes and were wearing safety restraint devices are being accepted on a continual basis. There is no cost to the nominating agency – all recognition materials are provided by the Virginia Highway Safety Office.

2013 Looking Beyond the License Plate Award Program
A National Law Enforcement Recognition Program
(Awards are presented with the National Law Enforcement Challenge Awards at the IACP Annual Conference.)

The 2013 Looking Beyond the License Plate Program is underway and once again will recognize the vital role that license plates play in solving serious, non-traffic crimes. The IACP Highway Safety Committee, in partnership with 3M's Traffic Safety Systems Division, will select in June 2013 the police officer who demonstrates between June 1, 2012, and May 31, 2013, the most initiative in solving a serious crime via a license plate. 2013 Vehicle Theft Awards of Merit
A National Law Enforcement Recognition Program
(Awards are presented with the National Law Enforcement Challenge Awards at the IACP Annual Conference.)

The IACP's Vehicle Theft Committee recognizes an individual law enforcement officer’s outstanding educational, enforcement, and/or legislative contribution(s) aimed at reducing vehicle thefts and other vehicle-related crimes during the calendar year 2012.

The Committee also encourages law enforcement agencies, task forces, councils, community partnerships, and other theft prevention alliances to showcase either their educational or enforcement activities during the calendar year 2012 in terms of vehicle theft.

The winning agency in each of five categories based upon agency size, as well as the winning individual law enforcement officer, will receive a three-night expense paid trip to the Annual IACP Conference in San Diego where it will receive a trophy. The deadline for submission is mid-May, 2013 (exact date TBD). Click here to download an application.

2013 J. Stannard Baker Award for Highway Safety
A National Law Enforcement Recognition Program
(Awards are presented with the National Law Enforcement Challenge Awards at the IACP Annual Conference.)

The IACP's Highway Safety Committee annually recognizes a state trooper and a municipal police officer, as well as a non-law enforcement officer, each of whom has made an outstanding, continuous and sustained lifetime contribution to highway safety. Each winner and spouse/significant other will receive a three-night expense paid trip to the Annual IACP Conference in Orlando where s/he will be honored. The deadline for submission is May 13, 2013.
